The Thieves of Coast Guard

What is this??? New version of the Thief of Baghdad??? I'm so ashamed of this. I was watching the news yesterday on MNBC One and it was on the news that 2 MNDF personnel were caught forcing Bangladeshi workers to give them money. I called a few people I know in MNDF and they said that they were both from the Coast Guard. Shame!

These 2 got caught in public doing this shameful thing and according to the news report, will be given the harshest punishment, said an MNDF official. Why isn't the officer who got caught stealing something from the Coast Guard diving cell is not being given the 'harshest punishment'? Is it because he's an officer?

Pte. Hussain Mahir & L.Cpl Ali Ibrahim who were caught robbing the Bangladeshi workers

Lt. Althaf who was caught stealing from the Coast Guard Diving cell.

I hope that MNDF will take the strictest action and punish them with the 'harshest punishment' possible.

Death of Soldier in a training accident

An MNDF soldier undergoing the bodyguard training at the training facility in Laamu Kahdhoo was accidentally shot in the head yesterday. The soldier, Corporal Ibrahim Shaukath died instantly and was flown to his birth island of Raa Atoll Alifushi yesterday and given a state funeral. The investigations are being done on the shooting by MNDF jointly with the Police. It's a sad day for MNDF. Corporal Shaukath was a good soldier who had good leadership skills and got along with everyone. May his soul rest in peace.

Thief Officer

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay in updating this. I was busy digging the dirt which happened in MNDF Coast Guard! And I've finally done it! It's so easy to get into the minds of these officers over a cup of coffee. Just REAL easy.

One of them I won't mention the name told me that the item which was stolen was a very important piece on the compressor which is used to fill the dive cylinders. And that compressor is also brand new and now that part has been replaced by a broken and old piece. A lot of people in coast guard are surprised it's not being investigated at all by the so called 'Investigation Team'.

The person who stole it and replaced it with an old one is someone who is known for his thievery apparently. I know his brother. He was with me in school and I know what kind of people they are. Not nice at all! This officer is Lt. Althaf. He was commissioned this year after completing the officer academy at Girifushi. What kind of officer is he? I mean doesn't officers have to have a certain quality? He told me that Lt. Althaf is not respected at all in coast guard. So why is he being kept there? Thievery shouldn't be tolerated in an organization like MNDF. Ah the best thing this officer told me is that now Lt. Althaf has been selected for some navy diving course in China. I guess people like that really go places!

Lt. Althaf (then Lance Corporal)

That's Lt. Althaf when he was just a lance corporal. I couldn't get my hands on a recent photo through my connections. Sorry for that. But I want to expose people like this! They are being stealing government property and living free! And he being an officer of MNDF he should be brought to justice.

I hope the top brass of Coast Guard handle this how it should be handled and not ignore such a serious incident as they have been ignoring and letting things go like they been doing in the past.

I respect what the MNDF officers and soldiers sacrifice for our beloved nation. I don't respect MNDF personnel who are thieves, whether they are lower ranked soldiers or whether they are officers.

Theft at MNDF Coast Guard?????

Today is a shocking day for me. I'll tell you why as well. I met an old friend of mine who's an officer at MNDF Coast Guard after about an year. We met at the cafe' in front of Velaanaage after Isha prayers. We were talking about the good times we had when we were in school and about the usual things we Maldivians talk these days - POLITICS!

After sometime he told the shocking new about a theft at Coast Guard. He didn't specify what was stolen and by whom BUT he told me that it was done by a newly commissioned Officer. The reason I'm shocked is because he told me that some of the officers at Coast Guard is protecting this 'Officer' and there is an investigation 'on-going' but nothing is moving forward.

MNDF soldiers who go through basic training has to say over and over again 'I will not cheat, steal or tolerate people like that among us' or something like that. I don't remember the exact words. I know this because I went to one of the graduation ceremonies at Girifushi training center and saw these words inside their mess hall 4 years ago when I was working at news agency. It's surprising that MNDF Coast Guard tolerates this kind of lowly things. I'm trying to find out who this new 'officer' is. All I was told was that he's been transfered to another unit in Coast Guard. I will try and get as much information I can in the next few days or even tomorrow if I can about who this person is and I will let all of you readers know.

So keep glued to this!!!!!

Warrant Corp of MNDF

I just want to congratulate all who were promoted to the new Warrant Officers Corp of the MNDF. A lot of my close friends did get into that corp. Which is good news to me. Just haven't met them all to ask who it is yet. Maybe in the next few days I might be able to. Once again congratulations. This is the way MNDF should have been going even before!

Oh and I forgot to congratulate the Senior Enlisted Leaders as well!

MNDF (Unofficial)

This is just a blog about MNDF, so it's unofficial. Just my opinion on things. I'm a reporter working for a few news agencies in the Maldives. The reason why I'm blogging about MNDF is cos I got so many of my classmates and friends working there. I guess I'm one of the few civilians among my group of friends. This is not to say anything bad about MNDF. So please note that. I will write my views on what's going in there. Hoping that things will change for the best in MNDF. The change they have brought now is really good I think. Different corps and rank structures. The previous Defence Minister Hon. Ameen Faisal did a great job in what and how MNDF is now. And the current Defence Minister, Hon Thalhath is also doing good work. Both has military background and knows what a military is. So on that note, enjoy reading. Will try to update this blog as much and as often as I can.
